Anna Buchenhorst
Anna Buchenhorst is a pianist at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, having also worked for some years at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. She has toured the USA and Asia with the Royal Swedish Ballet and collaborated with the Royal Danish Ballet, Copenhagen. She has also made several recordings for the radio and television in various countries.
She has worked together with some of the most well-known choreographers, ballet teachers and dancers of our time, among them John Neumeier, Nicolas Le Riche, Igor Zelensky, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Sergei Polunin.
For the past thirty years Anna has played in a pianoduo with Swedish pianist Per Rundberg with whom she has performed numerous concerts throughout Europe.
Anna has performed together with the Royal Court Orchestra in Stockholm as a soloist in various piano concerti choreographed for the Ballet, for example Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto no.1, Poulenc’s Double Concerto, Martinů’s Concerto for two Orchestras, Piano and Timpani, and the virtuoso piece “Grand Tarantella” by Gottschalk. She has also performed Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D-major, playing and conducting from the keyboard, at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg.
She has worked with conductors such as Daniel Harding – in Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.3 together with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra – Leif Segerstam and Josep Caballé Domenech.
Her vast experience in the dance field has broadened her musical horizons also as a soloist and ensemble player. A dedicated chamber musician, Anna regularly performs together with members of the Royal Court Orchestra as part of the Royal Opera’s Lunchtime and Summer Concert Series.

A former chamber music pupil of the professors András Mihály, Balázs Szunyogh and János Devich (a founding member of the renowned Kodály Quartet), she has worked together with musicians from the Bavarian State Orchestra and Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, with singers like Erland Hagegård and with the comedian Victor Borge.
